Cornwall, UK – 13th March 2012: Packet Ship, a leading provider of software technologies for video-based services and solutions, will use the IP&TV World Forum exhibition in London to launch the company’s new OverView Over-The-Top (OTT) Solution.
OverView provides a complete server-side infrastructure for secure, adaptive delivery of video-on-demand and live TV across the public Internet. The platform can generate both HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) and the new MPEG-DASH specification, making use of the encryption and security provided by standard clients on set-top boxes and connected TVs.
The solution can operate through any third-party Content Delivery Network, or Packet Ship can provide the distribution and edge servers required to build a dedicated CDN for streaming video. Paul Clark, CEO of Packet Ship, said, “By focussing on open standard server-side solutions and partnering with client developers we believe we can provide maximum flexibility for service operators at a disruptive price point, while retaining the security of a proprietary DRM.â€
Packet Ship specialises in licensing Linux-based software components for video applications to OEM hardware manufacturers, systems integrators and service operators to integrate into their own solutions and services. The company already supplies many of the European market leaders in IPTV, hospitality and healthcare and is deploying a number of consumer projects in the Far East. Packet Ship is exhibiting at stand 109 at the IP&TV World Forum at Olympia, London, 2 0th-22nd March 2012.
